Salute 53
we finally made our triumphant return to the South West London Warlords’ annual convention, Salute. Stepping back onto the floor at Europe’s largest independent gaming convention for Salute 53 was nothing short of fantastic. The energy, the noise, the plastic crack—it was exactly what we needed.
This year, we decided to go big. To celebrate the launch of Warhammer 11th Edition and the drop of the new Armageddon Box Set, we dragged one of our living dioramas to the show. We went all-out, crafting an epic scene featuring the Imperium of Man launching a desperate, full-scale assault to capture a heavily fortified Ork stronghold. Watching people stop to get a closer look at the carnage was the highlight of our year.
Star-Struck at the Table
When we weren't guarding our diorama, we spent most of the day fan-girling over the legends in attendance. It was an absolute blast to catch up with some of our favorite creators:
Pete the Wargamer
Duncan Rhodes (The legend himself, looking as sharp as his highlights)
Bill Making Stuff
Guy from Midwinter Minis
The crew from Tabletop Tactics
Alex Middleton
Between the high-stakes games, the incredible cosplay, and the Hobby Hero seminars, the day flew by. We’re already counting down the days until we can do it all again next year.
Behind the Scenes: The "Guild" Way
You didn't think it was all glamour, did you? We’ve put together a look at what it actually takes for the Game Masters Guild to get our kit across London.
Let’s just say it wasn't the most professional operation. We somehow completely forgot to pay for exhibition parking, Dan got a little too emotionally attached to the boxes (which were held together by little more than hope and an excessive amount of parcel tape), and "Tubby"—our lovingly taped-up crate—became the unofficial, silent travel companion for our early morning commute into the Big Smoke.
Is so good to look back on another brilliant year at SALUTE, we may already planning how to make next year even bigger.
