farewell to 10th

They say all good things must come to an end, and as the dust settles on the battlefield, we’re officially hanging up our 10th Edition codices.

For the Game Masters of Windsor, this transition hits a little differently. Our club was practically born alongside the launch of 10th Edition. We’ve grown up together, learned the new rules, suffered through the balance datasheets, and celebrated the critical hits that turned the tide of local wars. 10th was our starting point, our training ground, and the backdrop to our most formative years as a club.

The Last Stand: An Apocalypse to Remember

To say goodbye, we couldn’t just pack up our models and call it a day. We had to go out with a bang—literally. We hosted one of our infamous Apocalypse games, pitting the Imperium of Man against the Unholy Alliance for one final showdown.

The board was a carnage-filled masterpiece. We had everything on the table, including—for the sheer audacity of it—two Baneblade tanks. It was a beautiful, chaotic mess.

But as any veteran GM knows, the dice are the true architects of fate. In every great campaign, there’s always that one "demise to rule them all," and 10th Edition wasn't going to let us leave without a final dramatic flourish.

In the closing turn, the last standing Baneblade was cornered. We were all huddled around the table, holding our breath, waiting for that final armor save. It failed. As the model was pulled from the board, we reached the moment of truth: The Explosion Roll.

The dice gods clearly knew we needed a cinematic exit. The room went silent, the die tumbled, and BOOM. It didn’t just detonate; it took the Titanic Knight standing next to it down in a glorious, fiery grave. The room erupted. It was the perfect send-off—an explosive reminder of why we fell in love with this game in the first place.

New Editions, New Ambitions

While we’re a little misty-eyed about our 10th Edition memories, we’re ready to turn the page. The transition into 11th Edition feels like a fresh deployment. We’re excited to see what the new rules bring, how our favorite units will evolve, and what kind of new "dicey" situations we’ll inevitably find ourselves in.

We’ve had a blast, we’ve made our marks, and we’ve definitely rolled enough natural 1s to last a lifetime. To 10th Edition: thanks for the memories, the laughs, and the explosions.

Now, on to the next mission. We’ll see you on the other side of the codex. If you want to learn how to play, give Warhammer 40K a go and experience some of the most thrilling dice rolls away from the crabs table, get in contact! We hear to teach, share and enjoy the experience with everyone and anyone who wants to get involved. Enquire now to start your 11th edition journey.
